What do you feel would be a good Aerobics class for a overweight beginner?

Swimming is a workout that is completely non-impact - good for the joints. It is perfect for overweight people, injured people and paraplegic people. It can be done as long-duration, low-intensity exercise or as high-intensity, short-duration exercise.
I can swim but it's not pretty. Soooo, I do kick board laps. I love it - it's my favorite form of cardio exercise, Ogar.
Another recommendation would be walking. Just make sure you have a really good pair of shoes for walking. Comfortable clothes and you're good to go. In the summer be sure to be well hydrated before you start and bring a bottle of water with you. In the summer, I like taking my dog for a walk, but we wait until the early evening when it's not so darn hot here in the south. Sometimes, it's still stifling.
For anyone that is over weight and new to aerobic activity I would always suggest they see their doctor first. Just to be safe.
