Hey einstein i have a question about my BP medicine. I used to take only one med but the heaveir i got they had to add another one. Now that i have lost some weight i was wondering when i should start talking to my PCP about coming off one of the meds. Right now my BP meds are Metoprolol 50 mg 1x daily, and Lisinopril 10 mg 1x daily. I keep a daily journal of me BP daily and since the diet and exercise program has started my average BP with meds was 135/88 with an average pulse of 94. Here are my last couple of readings.
124/74 pulse 58 130/72 ""63 128/83 ""59 125/82"""60 111/73"""51 120/74"""61 118/73"""75 127/73"""72 116/76"""62 115/73"""66 119/75"""74 113/70"""66 118/73"""89
The readings go from most recent to lowest top to bottom. FYI i do take other meds which are
Zoloft-100 mg 1x daily Ecotrin-325 mg 1x daily Clonazepam 2mg 3x daily Ativan-1mg PRN APAP/Codeine 300-30 mg PRN Oxycodone/APAP 5-325 mg PRN And today i just took my last dose of Methlpred 4mg Dose pack

I don't know if your doctor would take you off of one right away. Your B/P is looking good. He may try to lower the dose of one of the b/p meds before pulling you off of it completely. Here's a couple of things to think about. The clonazepam, Tylenol #3s, percocets, and ativan will also lower your B/P. Before discussing this with your doctor, it would be interesting to know what your B/P is before and about 40-60mins after taking one of the narcs. I am assuming the Klonapin and ativan are for OCD. Depending how often you use the painkillers and prn ativan, I could also see the doctor trying to taper off one of these instead of the B/P meds. You also may want to try taking your B/P the same time each day, but at a different time than you took the readings you posted. You may also want to log the times you took a narcotic and compare that to your B/P to see if how heavily they are playing a role with your readings.

Ok NP one question..i take my BP meds in the morning so how long after taking the meds should i wait to take my BP? i will also take my pressure before and after taking some of the narcotics.

Are any of the B/P meds extended release? Obviously your b/p will be lower for a couple of hours after taking them. Try comparing your b/p an hour after the b/p meds then in early evening. Just remember to factor in when you take the narcs.
